I've already had my ferretish attention drawn towards ToV's speculation on the '09 Acura TL revamp. 300HP and SHAWD in a TL would be a draw for me. (See, that is what I mean...this is why I go through cars too often...)

that would equal or about equal the 3 series' 300hp and seeing how well acura did the awd on the mdx i'd imagine it would be great on the tl.

question is if they are heading that way with the 09 tl what will they do to the 09 tsx? something to rival the 1er? hmmmmm

if the 09 tl has the awd and 300hp with a variant of the rdx's engine or some kind of f/i or even just straight NA i'm in 100%.

I am still sceptical on the 300HP/SHAWD speculation on the TL. The RL revamp is also due and speculation is a bump to the 3.7L (MDX), with the same 300HP. My issue is this: Will there be enough product differentiation between the TL and RL if both have 300HP and SHAWD?

As to the TSX there are several items of speculation going on:

• 2.3L Tubro in a 'Type S' version with SHAWD (~260HP)
• J35 in a 'Type S' version with SHAWD (???HP)

Either one might be very interesting.

well the tl and rl were always close and that's why the rl never really sold much.
i think the tl will have 300hp or very close to 300hp because acura has to keep up in that segment with the 300hp huggers (335i etc).

the rl on the other hand even with a 3.7L should have more than 300hp so that it can keep up with the others. If they keep the rl at 300 than it's a shame.

the tl is their go getter so u may see something that opens ur eyes. If not they would have put themselves way down in the market where power and efficiency is concerned especially if they keep it at a moderately powered oversteering front wheel drive.

Acura needs an 'Image Revamp' on their market and business model, overall. They rated one of the lowest scores in customer perceptions of 'desirability' in a recent market poll. (Lexus and Mercedes topped the list)

100% agree.
But theyrate soo low cuz they just refuse to keep up amongst other things.
Maybe they have finally smelt the coffee and it's the reason for the sedden revamping of the RL and SHAWD on the TL etc.
hmmmmmmmm

I'll go and see if I can find that article again (heh, if I can remember which one of the 'car sites' I found it on, and how many days ago).

In the interim, here is another one on perception that ranks Acrua low:

Consumer Reports Car Brand Perception Survey winners: Toyota, Honda - Autoblog

I have an inclination to believe, that outside of those who are 'Honda folks', Acrua just does not leap to mind. As a company, Acrua is low profile, soft-spoken, rarely has TV spots (with the exeption of the twice annual 'Chance to Advance' sales event, you've all seen that one), has rather bland styling vs. its competitors (RDX was an 'interesting' change, but it was not given anywhere near enough advertising and promotion time).

Finally, in the game of envy and 'one upsmanship' weighing in an Acura (even the top of the line RL), does not stack up against competitor's offerings at the same price point, and they have nothing (outside of a currently aging NSX) in the higher end of the segment.

EDIT: Yay, my signature appeared!

Confirmed from this mornings Autospies Chicago Autoshow report:

______________

One speculates that they'll gank the TL and bring it in at 280HP. Of course, this is Honda corp., who are notorious for undercutting their own models (TL-S, then Accord, etc.)
